Holy stashbusting, Batman!

My Ravellenic shawl is duh-duh-duh-done.

  • On Ravelry: Peppermint Dreams

  • Pattern: Dream Stripes by Cailliau Berangere

  • Yarn: Novita Bambino, MC: 160 yd/146 m white, CC: 115 yd/105 m of red

  • Needles: 4.5 mm

  • Mods: Increased to 233 sts = 13 repeats of the lace border (the pattern specifies 17). After the charted border in white, switched to red and worked 5 extra rows, then 1 row in garter, then BO.

This yarn has been in my stash for over ten years and now I’m glad to get rid of it. I only had two 50 g balls and that wasn’t quite enough according to the pattern. Maximizing the size of shawl while minimizing the amount of the leftover yarn involved a few nights poring over complex spreadsheets and obsessively weighing the shawl at various points… but it paid off! All of the white is gone and only 12 grams of red remaining.

Originally, I wanted to add beads to the white lace section, but the seed beads I had weren’t co-operating. Instead, I knitted a few extra rows to add a red border. In the original, the lace section is done on one color.

That’s first of the Startitis Week projects finished!
