November Mittens for Christmas

I knit Christmas gifts very sparingly, only if inspiration strikes me and only to those who are worthy. This fall, my mom started raving about new mustard-colored colorways she’d seen. Mustard-colored this, mustard-colored that… When I spotted this new yarn at the LYS, I knew it had to be mittens for her.

  • On Ravelry: November Mittens

  • Pattern: Simple Autumn Mittens by Halldora J

  • Yarn: 132 m/144 yards (about one skein) of Berroco Ultra Alpaca Light (50% alpaca, 50% wool) in Tupelo (4217)

  • Needles: 3.0 mm for ribbing, 3.5 mm otherwise

  • Mods: 1x1 twisted rib, substituted sk2p (slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 2 sts together, pass slipped st over) with a centered double decrease (slip 2 sts as if to knit, k1, pass 2 slipped sts over, s2kp2), shifted thumb gusset 3 sts towards the palm
