Tour de Fleece 2016: No Rest for the Wicked

This year’s Tour, like any other, has the customary two rest days in the schedule. If I can’t spin, I can still play with fiber in some other way: by dyeing it!

First was this rainbow gradient, dyed in the oven.

Then I tried kettle dyeing fiber for the first time. This one turned out pretty well.

… but this one might have felted a bit. I had to leave it in much longer because the turquoise dye just wouldn’t exhaust. The temperature in the kettle got a little too high – it was on a rolling boil when I went to check it! Some prepping and pre-drafting and I think it’s still salvageable.

Bonus sock yarn dyeing. I can’t wait to knit this up – I’ve already got the perfect pattern lined up.

Now back to spinning!
