In the Weeds
Earlier this fall, Garnstudio released their latest yarn, an alpaca sock blend called Nord. I was immediately attracted to the lovely green called Lemongrass but picked up a couple of other colors as well.
The green was the first to get on the needles, and I ended up with a new sock design that plays with a fun gusset construction.
In the Weeds is a pair of toe-up socks that feature tiny lace panels growing like shoots through even the tiniest cracks in the pavement. Gusset increases worked in twisted rib are placed unconventionally on top of the foot instead of on the sole. The lace and twisted-stitch pattern is foot hugging, giving a comfortable fit on a wide range of foot sizes.
After the heel, the same lace pattern as in the foot is picked up again and continues up the leg. The socks are finished with a twisted-rib cuff.
